LE FONTANE DI VENEZIA E NELLE ISOLE MAGGIORI

Il Venice Project Center (VPC) (VPC) , progetto specifico del Worcester Polytechnic Insitute (WPI), ha cominciato dal 1988 a condurre progetti e raccogliere dati nel Comune di Venezia con l'intento di rendere pubblica una preziosa mole di dati sulla città storica. Il suo vasto catalogo di dati spazia in diversi ambiti: maree, canali, campanili, chiese, ponti e fontane della città.

Nel 2014, gli studenti del VPC hanno condotto una importante ricerca sulle fontane che è stata pubblicata sull'Atlante della laguna, messa a disposizione del grande pubblico. Un gruppo di 4 studenti di WPI impegnati nel tema intitolato The Evolution of Venice through Mapping Technology: A Venice Project Center Collaboration with the Atlante della laguna ha condotto da ottobre a dicembre 2014 uno studio sul campo volto a censire le fontane pubbliche della città di Venezia e di 6 isole della laguna (Murano , Burano, Mazzorbo, Torcello, Sant'Erasmo e Vignole).

PUBLIC FOUNTAINS IN VENICE AND NORTHERN LAGOON ISLAND

The Venice Project Center (VPC) is sponsored by Worcester Polytechnic Insitute (WPI), USA, and was established since 1988 to conduct projects and collect various data in the City of Venice with the hope to publicize this invaluable data for public use. Its extensive catalog of data ranges from tides, canals, belltowers, churches, and bridges to fountains in the city. 

In 2014, the VPC directly contributed its fountain data to the Atlante della laguna (Atlas). This data did not only serve as the first connection test case between the 2 organizations, but it also served as a permanent contribution to the Atlas so that the public can view this data on either website. A group of 4 students from WPI namedThe Evolution of Venice through Mapping Technology: A Venice Project Center Collaboration with the Atlante della laguna conducted a field study to assess public water fountains in the City of Venice as well as 6 other islands in the lagoon (Murano, Burano, Mazzorbo, Torcello, Sant'Erasmo and Vignole) from October to December 2014. 

Below is a table of all fountains the team assessed in Venice and other islands.
